“Draws its audience into a poetic journey of rhythms, songs, dance and joyful celebration.”
Third World Love was born in Barcelona for a one-time tour that instantly developed into a unique brotherhood, co-led by Daniel Freedman, whose “drumming retains a sumptuous authenticity, as if he learned everything from the dusty street of some South American or African urban center” (Modern Drummer), trumpeter Avishai Cohen who has the “confident tone and rhythm of Clifford Brown under his fingers” (New York Times), the “strikingly talented” (E.W.) Omer Avital on bass and oud and pianist Yonatan Avishai, who has been hailed by the Israeli magazine Ha’ir as a “genius pure and simple.”
Third World Love has just released Sketch of Tel Aviv, an organic experiment in compositional forms that blends African, Middle Eastern and jazz. The quartet’s previous two albums, Avanim and Third World Love Songs are huge commercial successes in Israel, the birthplace of Third World’s members.
