Pianist Jason Lindner has been a fixture in the New York jazz scene since the mid '90s when he started selling out the venerated Greenwich Village club, Smalls, on Monday nights. Lindner's large ensemble performances quickly became the focal point for critics and record label reps and led to their Impulse Records debut: Jazz Underground/Live at Smalls, and later Premonition — on Chick Corea's Stretch label.
Lindner grew up in Brooklyn, NY, played piano at age 2 and jazz by 15. He studied with master bebopper Barry Harris and the mystic harmonic master Chris Anderson before exploring Latin & African rhythms, Funk, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rock.
"A performer to watch." — Los Angeles Times
His compositions bring out the best in a cast of supporting musicians at the top of their game, and his own playing is a study in intelligent contrasts.
