Dobson's live performances are rollicking rides showcasing her group's down-home sincerity as well as its virtuosic jazz sensibility.
"Her plangent, almost vibrato-free voice rides over a melange of island rhythms, bossa nova and folky acoustics [that] go down as easily as a frozen margarita." — Time
Originally from Santa Cruz, CA, where she sang jazz professionally from the age of 16, Sasha now lives in NYC, performing original songs around the Lower East Side. Her debut album, Modern Romance, is a fusion of Brazilian groove, pop, jazz, and American songbook. Harris produced the album with Richard Julian, contributing both guitar work and songwriting. Tony Scherr (Bill Frisell, Willie Nelson) is featured on bass and Mauro Refosco (Bebel Gilberto, David Byrne) on percussion.
